A Tribute to the Purple and Gold

by anna

I missed the Lakers Parade.

I got a mean ol’ case of the flu, which had me whimpering in the corner of my room downing Tylenol Cold and wishing I had never been born, instead of chugging brewskis on Figueroa like I had been envisioning in my head for the past couple months (“This year we’re really gonna do it, I can feel it you guys!!! Who’s ready?!?!”).

Lately though, ever since I could stand up without fainting sometime early this morning, I’ve matured a little and decided to build a bridge and get over it. What helped me bounce back from my Veruca Salt episode? Oh I don’t know, how about remembering THIS!!!!

Kobe, I mean duh of course you could do it without Shaq, proof to all them nay-sayers! Fish, nice job comin through with them critical three’s proving that you were just having a rough patch there for a few. GASOL! MY BOY!!! Trevor, Lamar, Bynum, Walton and Farmar, ballin’!*

*Listing all those names in a row right now made me remember to call out the haterism flowing from within the Lakers own fanbase these days, trash talking players left and right. Get over the fact that sometimes people play better than others, it doesn’t necessitate writing them off for life (or until another bandwagon comes along convenient enough for you to jump on).

And speaking of being on-and-off one’s game…Sasha, Sasha, Sasha….sigh. What happened? Calm down my Slovenian husky, I could never turn my back on you. But please, its starting to get embarrassing. Plus, I actually used to ENJOY watching you play well and seeing your face get all excited.

But we can still go play volleyball any day you want muffin.

As for ma’ dudes Powell, Mbenga and Sun, I wish I could say something to compliment your skills during this past season, but I honestly don’t remember seeing your faces within the last couple of months. My bad, maybe you guys showed up later in games when I had already had a few.  I do have some recollection of Brown though, and it was good.

And last but most definitely not least; Phil, congrats on the 10.

Viva los Lakers!!!
